01 INTRODUCTION
From digestion to hormones and everything in between, I help clients transform their health and build true health autonomy.
My approach, rooted in traditional Ayurveda, focuses on addressing the root cause of imbalance to restore balance and create sustainable change.
Beyond Symptoms
Ayurveda is rooted in the understanding that every individual is unique — in constitution, lifestyle, environment, and the way imbalance presents. Because of this, health cannot be approached through generalised methods that assume the same solutions will work for everyone.
It is common to feel confused when health concerns persist despite doing everything that is considered “right” — eating well, exercising, and following general advice — yet the issue remains. This is often because the underlying cause has not been fully understood.
Rather than applying broad recommendations, Ayurveda looks deeper, focusing on identifying the root cause of imbalance. It considers the body as a whole — including digestion, the nervous system, daily habits, and underlying patterns — to understand what is driving the issue. By addressing the cause rather than just the symptom, this approach supports more precise, effective, and sustainable change.
Every individual is unique. One-size-fits-all health care does not work.

03 | GET TO KNOW ME
Hi, I’m Akanksha
I am Akanksha Kalra, Ayurveda consultant, Ashtanga Yoga practitioner and Teacher based in Newcastle Upon Tyne and Whitley Bay. My journey into the world of health and wellbeing began in 2011 to address the debilitating pain caused by a spinal birth defect. I feel blessed to have found solutions to my health issues in Ashtanga Yoga and Ayurveda. Today, I live a healthy, pain free life without any modern interventions. Having experienced the depth and effectiveness of Yoga and Ayurveda in alleviating dis-ease, my work is now dedicated to sharing and supporting others through these powerful, life-changing practices.
PURNAM, a concept within Hindu philosophy, is where I draw my inspiration from. It is the understanding that everything is whole, complete, and nothing is missing. It points to a deeper truth that what may feel incomplete or broken is still part of a greater wholeness. As is the body, so is the universe. Everything arises from this universal wholeness, and everything remains whole. Nothing is lacking in the world, and not within.
A grounded reminder that fulfilment is not something to chase, but something to recognise, and that healing begins with a shift in perspective that, at the deepest level, nothing is truly lacking or broken.
“Health is not something to build from scratch, but something to return to.”

Yes – Ayurvedic supplements are 100% natural and made from medicinal herbs. Care must be taken on how to take them as even herbal supplements when taken unnecessarily or incorrectly can have side-effects. You should take them under the guidance of a qualified practitioner regarding the dose and time and method of taking herbs. Ayurvedic supplements should always be bought from a reputable supplier who maintains a high standard of quality control.

No. Vegetarianism is not a requirement to practice Ayurveda. In fact, Ayurveda teaches how to use meat as medicine e.g. in the case of severe debility and malnutrition, meat soups are prescribed to build the strength of the body.
Being vegetarian is the personal choice of the individual. A Vegetarian diet does however have many health benefits. Vegetarians usually have lower cholesterol levels and higher intake of Antioxidants in diet. This decreases the risk of heart disease, cancer, and other diseases.

Ayurveda and Yoga are sister sciences. They are complementary practices. Both practices being are born from the Vedic philosophy and are systems of wellness that aim to cultivate higher states of health and ultimately awareness. They both aim to enhance physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Yoga focuses more on the mind and physiology aspects, whilst Ayurveda focuses more on physical health and pharmacology.
